The Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) annual general meeting of Carmel English Medium Higher Primary School Kotekar for classes VII to X took place on July 8, 2023. The meeting aimed to foster a strong and healthy relationship between parents and teachers for the holistic development of the students.
The guest speaker for the event was Mrs. Lydia Lobo, the administrator of Link Integrated Rehabilitation Centre for Addicts. Several esteemed dignitaries were also present, including Sr. Juliana Mary, the Joint Secretary; Sr. Jacintha D'sa, the Principal; and Mrs. Sujatha, the Vice President of the PTA.
The meeting began with a prayerful atmosphere, as a prayer song led by class X students invoked God's blessings. The gathering was welcomed by the rhythmic steps of class VII students. The school Principal, Sr. Jacintha D'sa, delivered a cheerful welcome address and introduced the guest speaker, Mrs. Lydia Lobo.
A virtual annual report was presented, providing a concise overview of the school's academic activities and programs conducted during the 2022-23 academic year. Financial statements of the PTA were also presented by Mrs. Prafulla. Mrs. Prabha conducted a felicitation program to honor the grade X toppers of the previous year, namely Spoorthi K, Prithvi Shetty, and Diya D Shetty, who were recognized by the dignitaries.
Mrs. Lydia Lobo provided valuable insights into raising awareness about a child's growth. She emphasized the importance of parents spending quality time with their children and being mindful of preventing them from engaging in negative behaviors. She also encouraged parents to maintain good communication with teachers to stay informed about their child's behavior and performance. The talk concluded with a motivational video, leaving the parents with valuable information.
Sr. Jacintha D'sa, the school Principal, expressed gratitude to the parents for their presence and provided guidance for parents to follow the school calendar. She highlighted the need for each child to take responsibility for their work and actions.
Mrs. Sujatha, the Vice President of the PTA, shared her experiences with the gathering, further strengthening the bond between parents and teachers. The election procedure for the Executive Committee members for the year 2023-24 was conducted by Mrs. Shalet and Mrs. Shrikala. A vote of thanks was proposed by Mrs. Janet. The program was skillfully compered by Ms. Demcy Dsouza. The meeting concluded with the singing of the National Anthem, symbolizing unity and patriotism.
Overall, the PTA annual general meeting provided a platform for parents and teachers to come together, discuss important matters, and work collaboratively for the betterment of the students and the school community.
