Adolescence is a transition period of physical and psychological development that generally occurs during the period from puberty to adulthood. Adolescence is usually associated with the teenage years.
Carmel English Medium Higher Primary School Kotekar organized an awareness program on Adolescent Health on 30th June of 2023 to apprise the students with reproductive health, its approaches towards the students, sex education to coordinate between school and the community through an eminent personality Sr. Dr.Lenita Dsouza an obstetrician and Gynecologist presently working as a medical officer at Nirmala Hospital, Ullal.
First session for the students of Grade VI & VII at 9:0 a.m. to 10: a.m. and the second session were for students of Grade VIII to X at 10: a.m to 12:30p.m.
Dr. Sr. Lenita, in her talk she stressed the following approaches –
- Menstruation & Menstrual Hygiene
- Adolescence pregnancy
- Attraction towards the opposite sex
- Reproductive health.
Students cleared their doubts on this aspect. Hrithvi of Grade X expressed words of gratitude to the resource person. Miss. Nidhi accorded a warm welcome.
