The National Sports Day was celebrated at Carmel English Medium Higher Primary School, Kotekar, on September 1, 2023, to honor the enduring legacy of Major Dhyan Chand. The event aimed to pay tribute to athletes and their remarkable achievements, highlighting their influence in shaping societies.
The program was organized by the enthusiastic students of Grade IVB. The day began with an invocation seeking God's blessings, followed by a rhythmic welcome by the students. Dr. Suresh S Shetty, the guest speaker, was introduced by the student Sanvi Suvarna, who presented him with a flower bouquet as a token of appreciation for his presence. Sr. Jacintha D'sa (Principal), Sr. Ashwina (Coordinator for Lower Primary School), and Sr. Preethi, were present.
Dhyan of Grade IVB welcomed the gathering, and Akshara highlighted the significance of the day. The students enacted a skit emphasizing the importance of games, followed by a Zumba dance performance.
Dr. Suresh S Shetty, the Chief Guest, delivered a valuable message about sports. He emphasized the importance of physical activity and healthy lifestyles, aimed to raise awareness, and promote the significance of sports. He also shared the early life and achievements of the legendary Major Dhyan Chand, highlighting how it paved the way for many Indian sportsmen. Furthermore, he vividly explained the difference between sports and games.
Sakshya, Dhriya, U.S., and Vihan S Gatty of Grade IVB served as the comperes for the program. Lastly, Saanvi suvarna expressed gratitude and proposed the vote of thanks.
