Carmel English Medium Higher Primary School, CBSE, hosted exhibition on the theme ‘Season of Creation’ on 19th September 2024. Mr. Jacob Sebastian, a retired Senior Manager of Bank of India, was the Chief Guest for the event.

The programme commenced with a meaningful prayer service depicting the various objects of nature which was followed by a formal welcome by Tr. Prafulla. A symbolic gesture of care for the environment, a sapling was watered by the guests. A short report, summarizing the activities conducted in honor of the Season of Creation was presented. Students then performed a short skit, demonstrating how energy flows through an ecosystem and the interdependence of its parts for survival.

In his guest talk, Mr. Jacob Sebastian emphasized the vital role ecosystems play in sustaining life, explaining how all species are interconnected within these systems. He highlighted the impact of human activities like deforestation and pollution on ecosystems and stressed the importance of preserving them to maintain biodiversity and protect the environment. Sir Sebastian urged students to adopt eco-friendly practices such as reducing plastic use, planting saplings and conserving water. He emphasized that by caring for ecosystems, humans are securing a healthier and more sustainable future.

Principal Sr. Pramila Dsouza A.C. further inspired the audience with her message on the significance of the Season of Creation. Thanishka of Grade 10th delivered the vote of thanks, and the event was skillfully hosted by MC Avni Abhilash.

Following the ceremony, guests viewed a display of models uniquely created by the students from Kinder Garten section to secondary level, adhering to the theme. The KG section showcased varieties of butterflies and their life cycles, while 1st Standard focused on animals, birds, and their habitats. Grade 2 highlighted ecosystems such as forests, grasslands, tundra and deserts, while grade 3 contributing creative leaf art. Grade 4 students presented artwork using cereals, grade 5 illustrated the process of germination. Students of grade 6 displayed models on plant reproduction, photosynthesis and solar energy. Students of grade 7 showcased, innovative creations from waste materials like coconut shells and old clothes, while the grade 9th featured clay models of the logo of the Season of Creation and emphasized the importance of protecting the Earth.

The event marked a thoughtful and impactful presentation of the Season of Creation, encouraging students to continue nurturing and caring for the Mother Earth.
